How to find a love that lasts? Documentary filmmaker Zoe (Lily James) hasn’t found her Mr. Right yet, even with all kinds of apps. After all, she brought back a lot of funny anecdotes from her bad dates, though that doesn’t comfort her impatient mother Cath (Emma Thompson) either. For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbor Kazim (Shazad Latif), however, the matter is clear. He follows the example of his parents and chooses an arranged marriage with an intelligent and beautiful bride from Pakistan. When Zoe accompanies him with her camera from London to Lahore, she not only films Kazim’s journey to a stranger his parents have chosen for him. She also wonders if this very different path to love can also point her search in a new direction.
